- 1 tbsp Cooking Oil: Any Veg. Oil or Sesame Oil
- 2 Cups Palak/Spinach: Washed, Cleaned & Roughly Chopped
- 1/4 tsp Hing/Asafoetida
- as per taste Salt
- 1-2 Green Chillies: Slit/Chopped
- 2 Garlic Cloves: Pounded
- 1 Ginger: Pounded
- 1/4 Cup Onions: Finely Chopped
- 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
- 2 tbsps Cornflour
- 1 tbsp Rice Flour: Optional (I use it for its extra upper crunches)
- 6 Cheese Cubes: Any- (Processed, Mozzarella, Cheddar, Parmesan)
- as required Cooking Oil: For Deep Frying
- as needed Garnish: Your own way
- 1 Baking Tray/Dish- Pre-lined & greased with some oil/butter/ghee (This is required, if you’re wish to bake them instead of deep frying, mostly for the health conscious people)
Steps to make to make Palak/Spinach Cheese Balls: Fried & Baked- Both Versions
- To begin with: Heat up a frying pan/wok/vessel, over the medium flame & add into it the measured cooking oil & sauté in it the finely chopped/minced Ginger-Garlic, Green Chillies & Onions until they’re quite shrunk & translucent & no raw smell is there- Followed by adding in it the roughly chopped Palak & continue sautéing- Add in some salt to it (very little)

- Once that’s done: Transfer it to a large mixing bowl- Then, gradually add into it rest all other aforementioned measured ingredients and mix everything well together until nicely combined and well incorporated- Add in the salt to it, at the end- else, it releases water and can make the consistency a bit lucid which might be a bit cumbersome while shaping them up- In case, you find it a bit loose then, add into it some more/extra breadcrumbs
- Combine them well enough to form a tight dough- Grease your both the palms with some oil- Taking a lemon size portions from the same dough, form a ball & then gently pressing each balls in between your palms- flatten it completely to insert/place the aforesaid cheese cubes inside each one of such balls & then, gently close them up again to a round ball shaped structures (ensure not to have any cracks in it)
- For Frying: Heat up a frying pan over the medium flame & add into it sufficient oil for deep frying them- Seal each of the balls nicely without any single cracks on it else, while frying them up- the cheese will melt & ooze out from inside of the balls & that’d create a total mess with your cheese balls as well as the cooking oil- which may not be possible to re-use it later on
- While frying the balls: Keep the heat, consistently at the medium low for nice & even frying- Keep stirring very cautiously & occasionally, without creating any cracks on their body until the outside of them turn crispy - Once done strain & transfer them into a separate plate/dish lined with kitchen towels to absorb the excess oil
